Dr John Carter

Veterinarian & Practice Owner (B.V.Sc (Hons) Melb 1975)

Dr John has been a Vet for over 30 years. Dr John was raised in Moonee Ponds, and was educated locally, winning a scholarship to Essendon Grammar. He was a keen swimmer at school, placing in state wide competitions and competing locally in the Essendon Swimming Club. Dr John graduated from Melbourne University with honours in 1975. He worked at Melbourne University as a research assistant and clinician followed by an appointment at the Bundoora Veterinary Clinic. He also worked as a flying vet for several years in the Northern Territory. Dr John then branched out into practice ownership, founding the Broadmeadows Vet Clinic in 1979.

After 15 years, Dr John sold this practice and started the Moonee Central Vet Clinic in 1998. John is highly experienced in small animal surgery, and has a special interest in orthopaedics and ultrasound. He has four grown-up children, most of whom have worked part-time at the clinic over the years. John and his wife Suzanne live on a farm out at Mickleham. When Dr John is not caring for patients, he enjoys gardening, farming and pilates. He is a practicing Christian.

Dr Huirin Lee



Huirin was born and raised in South Korea. She has always loved animals from as early as she can remember.  She acted on this love by fostering animals in need, such as stray cats and, while also working at a wildlife shelters. In her late 20’s, Huirin decided to study more to become a vet, which was her life-long dream. She quit her job and moved to Perth, Australia in 2017 with her 10 year old cat to study vet science.  In 2021, she graduated from Murdoch University, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.  After graduation Huirin moved to Melbourne to start her veterinary carrier. She is now enjoying using her passion and knowledge to provide care for animals and comfort to their owners.


Practice Manager (Diploma of Veterinary Nursing and Grooming)

Tineke is the practice manager and head nurse at Moonee Central Vet, and has a wealth of experience and knowledge in handling cats and dogs. She runs our Puppy School classes, and loves helping get little ones off to their best start in life. She is an experienced groomer and vet nurse, and is passionate about patient care. Tineke loves horse riding, going to the gym and keeping fit. She also loves Riley, her 9-year-old male Staffi also Nina the 12 month old Blue Heeler puppy.


Veterinary Nurse

Hayley has completed her Bachelor of Science with Honours, majoring in zoology and conservation biology. Hayley loves all animals, and has a cat called Debbie and a dog, Charlie. She is also very passionate about the conservation of the environment and hopes to have a career in ecological management and research. In her spare time she likes getting out of the city to go camping or bush walking. 


Veterinary Nurse

Eden has always been passionate about working with animals. Having a veterinarian for a father, she grew up in and around her dad’s vet clinic and with several dog and cats at home. Eden fondly remembers being given her first set of scrubs at 8 years old and how excited she was to wear them. Since then, her passion for animal health has just continued to grow.

Eden has completed a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University. At Michigan State, she had the opportunity to study abroad in Melbourne. After finishing her degree, she came back to Melbourne and completed a Bachelor of Agriculture from the University of Melbourne. Eden now lives here with her husband, black lab, Buffy, and cat, Oz. 


Veterinary Nurse

Cecilia is one of our nurses. She has completed her Veterinary studies at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil and decided to come to Australia to have a different experience in life, improving her English and potentially working as a vet here one day. Cecilia has a specific interest in surgery and used to work in one of the busiest hospitals in South America. She also has already helped to rescue many dogs and cats in Brazil and ended up keeping two baby cat girls for herself, Morgana and Anabella, which she misses them every day.

In her spare time Cecilia loves to listen music and also plays the keyboard, drums and also guitar
