Dr John Carter

Veterinarian & Practice Owner (B.V.Sc (Hons) Melb 1975)

Dr John has been a Vet for over 30 years. Dr John was raised in Moonee Ponds, and was educated locally, winning a scholarship to Essendon Grammar. He was a keen swimmer at school, placing in state wide competitions and competing locally in the Essendon Swimming Club. Dr John graduated from Melbourne University with honours in 1975. He worked at Melbourne University as a research assistant and clinician followed by an appointment at the Bundoora Veterinary Clinic. He also worked as a flying vet for several years in the Northern Territory. Dr John then branched out into practice ownership, founding the Broadmeadows Vet Clinic in 1979.

After 15 years, Dr John sold this practice and started the Moonee Central Vet Clinic in 1998. John is highly experienced in small animal surgery, and has a special interest in orthopaedics and ultrasound. He has four grown-up children, most of whom have worked part-time at the clinic over the years. John and his wife Suzanne live on a farm out at Mickleham. When Dr John is not caring for patients, he enjoys gardening, farming and pilates. He is a practicing Christian.

Ashe Mooney

Veterinarian (DVM, B.S. Evolutionary Anthropology)

Dr Ashe graduated in 2018 from the University of Melbourne University with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She is passionate about animal welfare, and has a special interest in avian medicine and soft tissue surgery.
In her prior life, Ashe worked as a science journalist, and still promotes animal welfare in the media. She is also a competitive ice dancer and pilates instructor. At home you can find her with her two failed guide dogs, Kiwi and Goose, toothless cat Poppy, baby galah Miso, and  cockatiels Soba and Tofu, and Zuke the budgie.


Practice Manager (Diploma of Veterinary Nursing and Grooming)

Tineke is the practice manager and head nurse at Moonee Central Vet, and has a wealth of experience and knowledge in handling cats and dogs. She runs our Puppy School classes, and loves helping get little ones off to their best start in life. She is an experienced groomer and vet nurse, and is passionate about patient care. Tineke loves horse riding, going to the gym and keeping fit. She also loves Riley, her 9-year-old male Staffi also Nina the 12 month old Blue Heeler puppy.


Veterinary Nurse

Kate loves all animals, great and small. She has a fat ginger cat named Mr. Squash. Kate graduated Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Animal Science and Management. She has worked in both general practice and shelter medicine over her years as a veterinary nurse. In her spare time, Kate likes to have a beer and watch her Carlton Blues play.


Veterinary Nurse

Auriel finished her Bachelor of Science with a major in Animal Health and Disease. In her spare time, she is often helping out at nearby animal shelters. Otherwise, you can find her at home with Rocky, Lady, and Mocha, her German Shepherd, Terrier, and Bengal. Besides being passionate about animal welfare, she also loves to dance and play games.
