Dr John Carter

Veterinarian & Practice Owner (B.V.Sc (Hons) Melb 1975)

Dr John has been a Vet for over 30 years. Dr John was raised in Moonee Ponds, and was educated locally, winning a scholarship to Essendon Grammar. He was a keen swimmer at school, placing in state wide competitions and competing locally in the Essendon Swimming Club. Dr John graduated from Melbourne University with honours in 1975. He worked at Melbourne University as a research assistant and clinician followed by an appointment at the Bundoora Veterinary Clinic. He also worked as a flying vet for several years in the Northern Territory. Dr John then branched out into practice ownership, founding the Broadmeadows Vet Clinic in 1979.

After 15 years, Dr John sold this practice and started the Moonee Central Vet Clinic in 1998. John is highly experienced in small animal surgery, and has a special interest in orthopaedics and ultrasound. He has four grown-up children, most of whom have worked part-time at the clinic over the years. John and his wife Suzanne live on a farm out at Mickleham. When Dr John is not caring for patients, he enjoys gardening, swimming and pilates. He is a practicing Christian and member of Essendon Baptist.


Dr Jenny Wang

Veterinarian (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine)

Jenny has grown up in the northern suburbs of Melbourne for as long as she can remember. She decided she wanted to become a vet in Year 10 during work experience. She completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Melbourne.

Over the years she has worked in multiple small animal clinics across Melbourne, including a short stint in emergency practice. One of those clinics was Moonee Central Vet Clinic. Now she is back and is looking forward to meeting you and your furry companions.

She has a cat called Toby, likes watching movies and has recently discovered she enjoys snorkelling.


Tineke

Practice Manager (Diploma of Veterinary Nursing and Grooming)

Tineke is the practice manager and head nurse at Moonee Central Vet, and has a wealth of experience and knowledge in handling cats and dogs. She runs our Puppy School classes, and loves helping get little ones off to their best start in life. She is an experienced groomer and vet nurse, and is passionate about patient care. Tineke loves horse riding, going to the gym and keeping fit. She also loves Riley, her 9-year-old male Staffi also Nina the 12 month old Blue Heeler puppy.


Hayley

Veterinary Nurse

Hayley has completed her Bachelor of Science with Honours, majoring in zoology and conservation biology. Hayley loves all animals, and has a cat called Debbie and a dog, Charlie. She is also very passionate about the conservation of the environment and hopes to have a career in ecological management and research. In her spare time she likes getting out of the city to go camping or bush walking. 


Kathryn

Veterinary Nurse

Kathryn is undergoing her Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne. She loves animals and wishes to further pursue her studies in veterinary medicine. Kathryn adores her golden retriever Summer and enjoys taking endless photos of her beautiful pooch. In her spare time she likes reading, playing netball and spending time with friends.


Khai

Veterinary Nurse

Khai is an international student from Malaysia and is graduating soon with a Bachelor of Animal Science and Veterinary at LaTrobe University. She grew up around different types of animals where she adores them and had later decided to further pursue her studies in Veterinary Medicine. She enjoy working in the clinic and is especially interested in felines.

 

Khai had adopted her cat -- Tina from Moonee Central Vet and is hoping to find Tina another sibling. She is also an indoor person but sometimes enjoys the sun where she likes to hike and play Frisbee.


Cecilia

Veterinary Nurse

Cecilia is one of our nurses. She has completed her Veterinary studies at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil and decided to come to Australia to have a different experience in life, improving her English and potentially working as a vet here one day. Cecilia has a specific interest in surgery and used to work in one of the busiest hospitals in South America. She also has already helped to rescue many dogs and cats in Brazil and ended up keeping two baby cat girls for herself, Morgana and Anabella, which she misses them every day.

In her spare time Cecilia loves to listen music and also plays the keyboard, drums and also guitar


Emily

Trainee Nurse

Emily started at Moonee Central Vet after completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne where she majored in Animal Science and Management. Currently, she has two cavoodles – Frankie and Lenny as well as a Siamese fighting fish named Mushu. Emily enjoys watching Netflix, spending time with family and friends and going to the beach.
